19th August 2009Ministerial media release
Members of the NSW Rural Fire Service in the Wingecarribee district have today been presented with a series of awards recognising their valuable commitment to their community.
NSW Parliamentary Secretary for Emergency Services Phil Koperberg joined the volunteers to present them with National Medals and Clasps and Long Service Awards.
"Between them, these men and women have amassed more than 500 years of experience in the RFS," Mr Koperberg said.
"These awards are recognition of their dedication, professionalism and commitment over these years.
"These men and women have played an integral role in their communities, whether fighting bush fires or assisting during other emergencies such as floods, storms and road accidents.
"They have not only assisted the Wingecarribee community but also areas much further afield when the call for help has gone out."
Mr Koperberg presented National Medals and Clasps to members in recognition of their years of diligent service above and beyond what is expected of active members and Long Service Awards in recognition of the volunteers years of active service.
"While RFS members don't volunteer their time for awards or accolades, the awards being presented today are recognition of the dedication and commitment of these men and women to our community," Mr Koperberg said.
